Exchanges abroad

In the 2nd year of ESO (compulsory secondary education) the students get the chance to take part in an exchange with the St Colmcille’s Community School, located in the centre of Knocklyon in Dublin.

The exchange lasts 7 days approximately. During their stay, the students go on cultural, sports and leisure trips in the city of Dublin and they will live with a student of their age and the Irish host family.

As well as helping to improve their English, this exchange gives the students the chance to learn about the traditions of other places, their education and lifestyles, make new friends and meet young European people, which all contributes to enriching their outlook on life.

Language immersion in Ireland

As we are aware of how beneficial it is for our students to go on cultural and linguistic trips, the School has an English immersion programme available for them.

This has been very successful in the last few years and it has proven to be an effective method to learn and improve a language for students in the last years of Primary, Compulsory Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

During the first three months of the academic year, the students go to an English speaking school in Ireland, along with other Irish students, and they live with an Irish host family who will have children at home, but no other Spanish students.

The students will be immersed in an Irish cultural environment and speak English 24 hours a day and they will also be in constant contact with the real Irish culture.

The Spanish students go to class with Irish students and they have to keep up the same pace of learning as their Irish classmates, take part in the same activities and do the same homework just like any other Irish student. In turn, they have a tutor-professor who gives them homework from the Spanish school, and they are visited on a regular basis in the school to make sure that they don’t have any problems.

The programme also includes cultural and/or leisure activities on Saturdays.
