Dear families, we want to share with you some wonderful news ; next school year we are going to add to our team of professionals the permanent figure of a school nurse with the help of Schoolnurses.es, a specialised , social and supportive company which will bring many benefits and peace of mind to all of us.

The proposal for a school nurse to join us was approved unanimously on June 30th by all of the members of the School Council.This initative has its origin in the improvement proposals for the school which you have communicated to us through the different satisfaction surveys.

Some of the pillars we reinforce with this new role in the care of your children:

• Professional attention in the case of unexpected situations , accidents and crises etc. 

Not only from the point of view of  direct attention from a professional for emergencies or everyday minor accidents; but we will in addition  all receive training via periodic workshops in order to reinforce and improve basic knowledge of first aid or detect other signs which may save lives ; our own or of others. We will all be able to save lives if we know how.

• Learn what health is , its fragility and value

With the workshops and talks  on different common or rare illnesses ( diabetes, asthma, ADHD, dislexia etc. ) we have around us , it will serve to promote greater awareness which will result in future adults with fewer prejudices, greater empathy and more tolerance.

• Identify signs that may indicate addictions or harmful behaviour 

With the presence and special vision of this figure we will add another pair of eyes that will get to know our students from a different point of view and will allow us to be more efficient in the early detection and warning of possible risks, advising the families , students and staff. Acting in good time can mean the difference between choosing one path or another at the sensitive and vulnerable  time of life which childhood implies.

The role of nurse will be a full-time one with working hours from Monday to Friday 9.00 to 17.00 hours during the whole school year except in September and June when it will be from 09.00 to 15.00 hours. The nurse will attend all the students in the school.The cost of the service will be 40 euros per student per year and will be charged to each family in the month of September. In this respect , the financial assistance to large families will be maintained. 

Our school nurse is called Paloma Gomis. Her e-mail address will be enfermera@colegiosscc.es. Schoolnurses will in turn set up the Snapp application at the beginning of the school year.One of the functions of Snapp will be to keep families and tutors informed of their daily interventions.Before the school year begins we will send you more information on this application and further data related to the operation of the nursing service.
